Did you know there are 18.8 million veterans in the United States, according to the most recent stats from the U.S. Census? More than 9 million veterans are served each year by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Loneliness is closely associated with depression outcomes and suicidal ideation among military veterans in primary care. In 2010, an average of 22 veterans committed suicide every day. The group with the highest number of suicides was men ages 50 to 59. We invite you to come help serve those who helped serve our country!
WHAT: Join us as we gather with local veterans in hopes that the socialization and fellowship may help their loneliness and depression. We will be going around to different floors of the facility with mobile coffee carts, serving coffee, hot cocoa, and a morning snack (diabetic friendly) to the patients. Let's come together as a Chapter and bring them kindness, company and gratitude! Our hope is that the socialization and fellowship may help their loneliness and depression. Let's come together as a Chapter and bring them kindness, company and gratitude!
